Why it’s good to be worried about your cybersecurity

Why it’s good to be worried about your cybersecurityHealth care organizations? Check.

Retail stores? Check.

Cybersecurity firms? Check.

Banks? Check.

US Government? Check.

You name it, they’ve had it. Nearly every sector in the US has been hit by data breaches that have crippled businesses, and your organization is no exception. So, if you’re worried about cybersecurity, that’s a good thing.

The question is how to turn that concern into action

According to cybersecurity experts, it’s not a matter of if, but when you will be breached.

So, accepting you are a target of cyber crime is the first step towards getting cyber secure.

The second step is to learn about the threat and the initial steps you can take to protect your organization, covering all of your business assets, including:

  1. Your staff
  2. Your processes
  3. Your technologies

Tackling the cyber threat

Many firms in the US (including Google Apps, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft) are implementing ISO 27001 – the internationally recognized best-practice framework for an information security management system (ISMS) – to tackle the cyber threat. It helps businesses set out a framework to identify the risks to your confidential information and put appropriate controls in place to reduce those risks.

The Standard is unique in that it is the only cybersecurity framework to incorporate all aspects of the cyber threat, including people, processes, and technology.

In fact, registration to the Standard has risen 36% in the US, according to the latest ISO figures, and the US is in the top ten countries worldwide for registration.

ISO 27001 is already popular in Europe, with many governments and businesses requiring it of suppliers and business partners.

What you can do

Reading cybersecurity books and articles is all well and good, but if you really want to understand cybersecurity and what you can do for your business, then attending a training course is often an effective way of learning.

Our Live Online courses in particular are popular because they provide a near in-person experience without the costs associated with traditional classroom courses.

“The live audio and video components provide a near in-person experience. IT Governance was viewed as a lead player in this space. Previous experience with IT Governance has always been positive.”

Tom Verhoog, Senior Information Security Manager

All of our courses are run by cybersecurity experts who have 10+ years’ experience and have helped hundreds of organizations successfully register to ISO 27001.  From Foundation through to Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor, our Live Online courses are designed to teach you everything you need to implement effective cybersecurity measures.
