In an effort to make our authors’ knowledge and expertise more available, IT Governance will be regularly posting short podcasts.
The first of these podcasts is called “It’s all about relationships – what ITIL® doesn’t tell you”, featuring Dr Suzanne D. Van Hove and Kathy S. Mills, who together wrote the appropriately named book It’s All About Relationships – What ITIL doesn’t tell you.
Jointly published by itSMF USA and IT Governance Publishing, It’s all about relationships – what ITIL doesn’t tell you is part of the Thought Leadership Series, which is a collection of four titles that will improve access to the global ITSM best-practice knowledge base.

I find the topic to be just a bit silly, actually. ITIL “tells” you, repeatedly, that “it’s all about relationships” – that is a main concept of having a lifecycle. This is simply one more example of restating information that is already available – if one takes the time to actually read it….
I was hoping to hear about the new level of Service Management – where human relations is the main focus. I didn’t get that, but I am still hoping to see ITIL shift its focus from processes and functions over to people.
