News emerges of another hacked hotel rewards scheme. Hot on the heels of last month’s attack on Hilton’s HHonors scheme, Hyatt Hotels has alerted some 200 customers that their Gold Passport accounts have shown suspicious activity and has reset their passwords.
The hack only seems to have affected Gold Passport members who log into their accounts with a username rather than their account number, according to Hyatt spokesperson Amy Patti, and there is no evidence of a breach affecting the other 18 million Gold Passport members. All reward points deducted from affected accounts have been restored, according to the Chicago Tribune.
