Adidas’ data breach exposes millions of customers

Adidas is warning customers of its US website that it has experienced a suspected data breach. The company first became aware of the incident on June 26, 2018, and reports suggest that millions of its customers’ personal details may have been compromised. An investigation found that the data breach included encrypted passwords, usernames, and contact information.

An Adidas spokesperson said that the company is currently contacting consumers who may have been affected. Adidas does not believe that any credit card or health and fitness information was compromised.

Protect your organization

Data breaches have been on the increase in recent months, so it’s important for companies to have the information security they need. An ISMS (information security management system) is a set of policies, procedures, processes, and systems that help you manage your information security. ISO 27001 is the international standard that describes best practice for an ISMS. Implementing an ISO 27001-accredited ISMS not only helps protect your organization from potential data breaches but it also sends a message to your clients that you are taking effective measures to protect your data.
